Oh yes you know it is something to exclaim about. That day when your baby no longer speed demons her way, crawling towards those stairs and not paying any attention to the drop. Jade, for some time now, has been cautious but not to the best out come. We have a short drop to our back porch, only two steps down and girl would come to the edge of those two stairs and not really know what to do with them. First it was dangle one hand over the edge. She even attempted to crawl down once or twice only to find that gravity works even when you're small. Then she decided that she should turn. Turn she would and then promptly crawl away. Looking back she would see the stairs had left her and not been concurred so back she'd go. Give them the stare down and turn, crawl away and back again. Round and round she'd go.
But then something clicked. Mothers day, her gift to me.
Woo hoo!! Girl goes down. And when not interrupted she goes down well. If she thinks that I will stop her she heads straight up but when she knows she is free to go then down it is.
No longer do I have to look around a house and try to find a way to block off the stairs or think that I have to watch her every move. I still like to know when she is on the stairs cause these ones are a bit long. But you get the idea. A bit more peace of mind has come once again.
(as a side note that landing where Suzie is sitting is a great place to sit and read)
