Looking back for awhile

Ahhhh!!! Feels so good to have a shower after a hot day outdoors. The sun is over bright. It is coming down hard these days. I spent a short time in the garden and working on the grass. I really couldn't last long out there. I know there are 42 days till autumn yet but in Manitoba the weather usually starts to cool long before then. But as of yet the only thing I see to show it is truly around the corner are some yellow leaves on the early trees. The poplars are the first to come and the first to go. I always look forward to the changing of the seasons from summer into fall. This year is no exception.

When I first noticed the leaves I had a quick comment to Paul "Am I ready for this? Yes, I am" I'm almost always ready for this. It has commonly been a season I enjoy. I love the cool, crisp air. The sweaters and the hats. I love that you can be out doors and not feel the way I did after today.

Ahhh but yes. The cooling shower and the fresh feeling. So here I sit as my daughter sleeps and my husband relaxes watching a movie we have already seen. The kitchen is not clean and I am not going to do it tonight. The cookies Suzie and I made are put away so that is good. My little Suzie bonkers.

Today was quit a day for that little head of hers. I think she ran it into the wall once, the floor many times and I am not sure what all. The funniest was when she was heading to the bathroom and decided something had upset her. She started to cry and walked straight into the door jam.

The worst was when she was helping me with the cookie dough after lunch. She was "forming" cookies on one of my stone cookie sheets. I think she was eating more than she was forming. I turned my back for but a minute and I hear some falling happening in her direction. I turn to see my stone hitting the tile floor and Suzie's head following close behind. Boy was that a bang. The poor kid was terrified. She was not even really hurt that badly, just shocked. I was very thankful that Paul was able to help clean up all the stone chips.

Before the end that was so bad.

Oh my little Suzie Bonkers. I do so look forward to the day you no longer give reason for that name. My little Sunshine. My little Goldie Locks.

On to the past. I do plan on posting some photos from our trip. So I will start from the beginning. The journey there. The drive out to Waterton was full of adventure. Starting with a break down. To start so early in the game with a break down usually had me, as a kid, convinced that the trip might not even happen. Things have not changed much. We had gotten a little over an hour and a half away from home and the oil leak in the truck was unmistakable. There was no denying that smell. In the end it did not stop the trip from happening just delayed it by two hours.

For kids this age it is just more fun to be had.

Can't tell in these picks that she had a fever and was grumpy most of the drive.

nope, this does not look fevered

We did not make it all the way to Waterton but Camped in a small town about 1 and 1/2 hours out.

This was quit the camp spot. Great showers. great play ground.

A bit of fun before we hit the road again.

Yup, here we go!!!

Thanks Alex and Gab for an enjoyable drive out to Waterton. Caravaning made this otherwise long and painful journey one to be remembered. Love you guys.

  1. Hey, did you know that the apron Suzie is wearing is one I made in Grade 8 Home Economics?

  2. I did not know that. I always thought it had something to do with Grandma but that is probably becuase I wore it whenever I helped her in the kitchen. Now it has more good meanings. She calls it a dress.
